PayPal payments

PayPal integration for webshops

PayPal is the world's best-known online payment brand, with hundreds of millions of active users. For international customers — especially in Western Europe and the US — a missing PayPal button often means a lost order: many buyers will only pay this way in a shop they don't know yet. We add it to your webshop with the official integration, alongside your existing payment methods.

Global customer trust

The PayPal button reassures buyers even in an unknown shop — a conversion key abroad.

Fast checkout

Customers pay in a few clicks from their PayPal account, without typing addresses or card data.

Buyer and seller protection

PayPal's dispute system gives both sides predictable rules.

Multiple currencies

Accept payments in the customer's currency with automatic conversion.

When is PayPal worth offering?

If you sell abroad — especially to Germany, Austria, the UK or the US — PayPal is practically mandatory: on these markets a large share of shoppers looks for it by default at checkout. In an unfamiliar webshop PayPal's buyer protection tips hesitant customers over the line, and it's an especially strong argument for pre-owned or premium products. For a purely domestic shop it rarely pays off alone, but as a second or third method for foreign customers it performs well there too.

How we integrate PayPal

We use the official PayPal Checkout integration: the smart payment buttons automatically appear in the customer's language and currency, and allow guest card payments alongside PayPal accounts. Callbacks are processed server-side via webhooks, keeping order statuses and refunds in sync with your admin. Before go-live we test the full flow in PayPal's sandbox.

Fees and things to know

PayPal charges per transaction, and fees are higher for international payments and currency conversion — worth building into your pricing. For new merchant accounts PayPal may temporarily hold part of the funds; this disappears as volume builds. PayPal handles the payment but issues no invoice — so here too we recommend the Számlázz.hu or Billingo connection to fulfil Hungarian invoicing obligations automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Does the customer need a PayPal account to pay?

Not necessarily — PayPal also offers guest checkout with a bank card. For account holders, the whole payment is a few clicks.

Is PayPal worth it for a Hungarian company?

For international sales, yes: the trust effect typically brings more than the higher transaction fee costs. For a purely domestic shop we'd recommend the SimplePay/Barion pairing first.

Does it work alongside my other payment methods?

Yes — we typically add PayPal next to your existing gateways (SimplePay, Barion, Stripe) as a complementary method, smartly ordered in the checkout.
